Customer membership is $99 a year including GST. It includes side-by-side comparisons and a reduced report fee of $165, compared with $264 for free-account customers. Each report is paid for separately; all prices include GST.
For eligible engagements, subscriber tools help organise evidence, timelines and a formal complaint pack for the relevant authority. These are preparation tools, not an independent inspection, legal representation or guaranteed acceptance. No priority regulator service or automatic lodgement is currently available.
Customer membership must begin before the engagement is registered for advanced evidence-preparation eligibility. Each report is paid for separately: $264 for free-account customers or $165 for active customer subscribers, including GST. Report fees are non-refundable. Subscribing later does not unlock advanced preparation benefits for earlier work.
Agree the work, confirm accurate attendance and completion details, and keep supporting evidence. Quality concerns and resolution are recorded separately. You can acknowledge an engagement and still raise an issue.
Read the participation and reporting FAQs — coming soonMembership funds the service, ongoing development and its recording and review processes, and includes comparisons and eligible report/evidence-preparation benefits. Paid participation is intended to encourage considered reporting, but payment does not prove a claim or replace identity, engagement and evidence checks. A customer without membership can still have a genuine concern.
Good communication starts before a dispute
Agree the work, keep the details, raise concerns early and confirm the outcome when an issue is resolved. MyTradie is designed to help both parties keep a useful record of what happens next.

The engagement bond
Good work deserves a factual record, including how you respond when things go wrong. The MyTradie bond reserve is a financial commitment to following through with customers and addressing concerns. Resolving issues helps demonstrate the care you take in your work; a deposit does not buy a positive record or remove an unresolved issue.
Under the planned model, sole operators who are not builders deposit $500. Builders and tradies managing a team deposit $1,500. Membership fees are separate, and the customer does not pay this deposit to MyTradie. Each subsequent top-up is $500 or $1,500 respectively. A funded sole operator moving into the higher category makes a one-off $1,000 upgrade.
Each funded engagement reserves $100. If funds are allocated to ordinary engagements awaiting release, further engagements can enter a first-in, first-out funding queue. They are labelled as awaiting allocation until funds become available; they do not each have a separately funded bond while queued.
Four weeks after recorded completion, the customer is asked a simple question: are you happy with the work? A confirmed Yes allows release when the completion and final-invoice conditions are satisfied and no qualified unresolved report remains. A No holds the allocation for follow-up; it is not automatically a qualified issue report. Silence is not recorded as satisfaction.
Resolution confirmed by the customer can release the allocation once the other conditions are met. Released funds return to the available reserve or transfer to the oldest eligible queued engagement. If all reserve funds are held against outstanding issues, new engagements cannot be registered until funds are released or a full category top-up is received. A top-up does not clear the issues or change their TAD status.
Five funded engagements allocate $100 each. A sixth can queue while the earlier engagements await ordinary release. When the first eligible allocation is released, its $100 transfers to the sixth engagement. If all $500 is instead held against outstanding issues, another engagement requires a resolution that releases funds or a further $500 deposit.
This is the planned service model. Payments are not open on the launch site. The no-response release timetable and review procedures are still being finalised; four weeks alone does not automatically release a bond. A reserve allocation is not a workmanship guarantee, customer compensation payment or public numerical score.
A MyTradie issue report is a structured factual record of a specific concern about an identified engagement: what work was agreed, what was observed, when it occurred and what evidence supports it.
Reports are designed for objective information only. Personal opinions, subjective commentary, star ratings and judgements about a tradie's character have no place in the report. For example, record that water entered through the roof during rain on a stated date, supported by photographs, rather than describing the tradie as careless or incompetent.
After you enter and submit the initial report details, you can progressively add further information, evidence and updates, provided they are materially connected to the original report. This may include additional photographs, relevant correspondence, developments in the reported issue or progress towards resolution. Unrelated issues should be recorded in a separate report.
A factual format does not by itself prove a claim. MyTradie provides a recording and qualification process; a submitted report is not an independent building inspection, expert finding or determination of liability. Report details remain private. The public activity display shows applicable issue counts and resolution status, not the customer's commentary or supporting documents.
Each report is paid for separately: $264 for free-account customers or $165 for active customer subscribers, including GST. Report fees are non-refundable. Payment does not establish the validity of a claim. Evidence preparation is a separate eligible membership feature; MyTradie does not automatically lodge a complaint with a regulator.

Official licence registers
Choose the state or territory where the licence was issued, then the regulator for the work. This launch website opens official registers; it does not retrieve licence results or confirm current status.
Check the applicable licence class and conditions, not just the name. A licence lookup does not prove that someone is authorised to represent the business.
Looking for a QBCC equivalent outside Queensland? Each state and territory has its own building regulators and trade licensing arrangements. These authorities are not interchangeable, and licence checks and complaint processes may use different channels.
Queensland (QLD)
For a Queensland builder licence check, start with the QBCC licensee register. Electrical licensing uses a separate Electrical Safety Office register. Choose the regulator for the type of work.

New South Wales (NSW)
Service NSW provides the official builder and tradesperson licence check. Its guidance directs home building complaints and enquiries to Building Commission NSW and licence lookup assistance to NSW Fair Trading.

Victoria (VIC)
The Building and Plumbing Commission is the current regulator for building and plumbing. If you are looking for the former Victorian Building Authority (VBA), use the current BPC practitioner registers. Electrical licence checks use Energy Safe Victoria.

Keep the contract, licence details, dates, photographs and correspondence together. Check the relevant authority’s own complaint guidance to find the appropriate pathway. MyTradie is independent of these authorities and is not endorsed by them. A MyTradie report is not a regulator complaint, and does not automatically lodge one or establish that an authority can assess it.
